Lee Golding, the Cranleigh Blacksmith, over the winter has created a beautiful gate to go at the front of the garden - very much in keeping with the poppy centrepiece.
The final part of the physical garden - installation of the front chestnut pole and rail fencing - with the generous help of Glenn Bicknell of GB Fencing, who gave us a day of his time and digger with the augur attachment. In the picture below are from left to right Dave, Adam and John, with Glenn operating the digger getting the post straight.
The completed chestnut pole and rail - courtesy of a very generous donation from AVS Fencing Supplies, delivered from their Rudgwick branch
A couple of slip rails here for the mower. All we need now is the rabbit-proof fencing! Many thanks to AVS and to GB Fencing!
AND FINALLY - the last touch to a beautiful garden, showing the best of what Cranleigh can do - a wrought iron work of art from our very own village blacksmith, Lee Golding. Dedicated to a much loved long-time Ewhurst resident and generously sponsored by Alan Rivers of the Rivers Foundation, the gate will be left to rust as the poppies in the sculpture.
