Cranleigh Village Hall
Published: 22 September 2023
Cranleigh Parish Council has been given approval to make an application by the Department for Levelling up, Housing and Communities for a grant of up to £250,000 to renovate our Village Hall. In order to complete our application we need the input of local residents to determine how that renovation investment should be spent.
The way we intend to proceed with this is to complete a series of residents panels, or focus groups, to facilitate a discussion and a set of preferences for how the village hall may be changed for a modern community.
The Village Hall is a large space with a stage, dressing rooms, a kitchen and servery area. However, its layout and fixtures are designed for an era of tea dances and large assemblies and it needs to be revitalised for a growing, diverse community with very different needs.
What we want the panel to consider is this:
“For a budget of £300,000 how would we renovate our Village Hall for the community, taking into account the variety of interests and demography.”
We will draw our panel from respondents and others we may approach on a random basis to create a mix of age and interest groups.
The panels will be facilitated and used as a basis to create a design brief for engineers and architects. They will be held during the first week of October. We know this is short notice, but so was the window of opportunity to participate in this funding round.
So, if you would like to participate, please email mailto:clerk@cranleigh-pc.gov.uk
We look forward to hearing from you.
